The Post 1461 Buddy Poppy Child Contest
New Program for Post 1461!
New this year we are adding a Post 1461 Buddy Poppy Child Contest! The purpose of the Buddy Poppy Child is to promote patriotism, create awareness of the Buddy Poppy story, and raise funds for the National Home, which assists Veterans in countless ways.

WHO CAN ENTER THE POST 1461 BUDDY POPPY CHILD CONTEST:
(All requirements must be met)
Child must be at least 8 years old and not older than 12 years old between April 1st, 2024 and May 1st, 2025.
Child must be related to a Veteran. (This Veteran is not required to be a member of the VFW, Auxiliary, or Boone County Veterans Club. Proof of veteran status may be requested.)
Entry form (downloadable from the link above) must be completed entirely and submitted before April 27th, 2024. (Mail to: VFW Post 1461, ATTN: Buddy Poppy Child Contest, 1310 Lincoln Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008)
Child MUST BE PRESENT for contest and interview on April 27th, 2024.
Child must be willing and able to fulfill appearances listed on the entry form. (1 quarterly Post 1461 breakfast, Belvidere Heritage Days Parade, Kirkland 4th of July Parade) Other opportunities may be available but not required.
